The SECRETS of Star's Fate Revealed
Last month, Soaps In Depth was waiting with bated breath on the day of the ABC panels at the Television Critics Association fall press tour to learn the fate of SECRETS OF A SMALL TOWN, the possible series starring GH's Tyler Christopher (Nikolas)!
The In Depth Story: When SECRETS -- penned by former GH co-headwriter Charles Pratt Jr. --wasn't announced as a new fall series back in May, both the daytime and primetime worlds alike were shocked that the much talked-about pilot (also starring Denise Richards) wasn't selected for ABC's fall lineup. GH fans who were eager to see Christopher break into a primetime success soon found another glimmer of hope when Christopher's official Web site reported last month that SECRETS was one of three pilots the network had placed on hold, extending the contracts of the actors involved.
Stephen McPherson, President of ABC Entertainment, tells In Depth that there's still a chance SECRETS will see the screen. "We're hoping to redevelop it," he confesses. "We thought there was a lot of good there. We all learned a lot on that pilot, and it's not one to throw out. So we're going to look at a new script, hopefully sometimes this fall."
McPherson adds that if all goes well, the primetime drama may be on the schedule as a mid-season replacement. However, Christopher's involvement as a cast members is still undecided. "The script and the direction are the places we're going to focus first," says McPherson. "In terms of casting, that's up to the producers."
